What follows is a juicy and fun faux-oral history on the meteoric rise and fall of this fictional band during the recording of their album Aurora. Milking all the melodrama of the rock ‘n roll scene in the ‘70s, this new Prime Video series follows Billy Dunne (Sam Claflin), the frontman of a band called The Six, as he crosses paths with firecracker songwriter Daisy Jones (Riley Keough). When it comes to Daisy Jones & The Six, it’s not not based on Fleetwood Mac. The Roxbury Guys were created by Ferrell and Kattan on the comedy show "The Groundlings." Here's a quote from Chris on their inspiration for the Butabi brothers: "Will and I were in a club, and we saw a guy who.was bopping to the beat, suggesting in a silent way, 'You want to dance with me? You do? You Don't? You Do? Okay, don't worry about it.' So we started imitating him.Daisy Jones & The Six.This sketch was the basis for the 1998 movie A Night at the Roxbury. The sketches often featured a third member of the group, similar to the others in appearance and actions, performed by that week's host, such as Tom Hanks, Martin Short, Jim Carrey, Alec Baldwin and Sylvester Stallone whose character was usually credited as "Barhop." They were extremely unfortunate with the women at the clubs, often gyrating against them in an attempt to get them to dance, but always causing a negative reaction. Their trademark was bobbing their heads in unison to the song "What Is Love" by Haddaway, which always played throughout the duration of each sketch. The Roxbury Guys was a recurring sketch on Saturday Night Live which involves two brothers named Doug (played by Chris Kattan) and Steve Butabi (played by Will Ferrell) (although their names and relationship to one another were never revealed until the subsequent release of the film) who always got dressed up in rayon suits to go clubbing, where they would attempt to pick up women.
